The cleared clubs include Amus College, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC, She Maroons FC, St. Noa Girls FC, Kampala Queens, She Corporate FC, Rines SS WFC, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC, Olila High School WFC, Makerere University WFC, and Lady Doves FC.
FUFA explained that the licensing process, carried out annually, ensures clubs meet standards in administration, financial accountability, technical staff qualifications, and facilities, in line with both FUFA and CAF regulations.
Federation officials emphasized that the objective of licensing is not exclusion but to raise standards across the women’s game. “We want clubs to build strong structures off the pitch to match the rising levels of competition on it,” FUFA noted.
The 2025/26 campaign is expected to be highly competitive. Established giants like Kawempe Muslim Ladies and Kampala Queens remain dominant contenders, while school-based outfits such as Amus College and St. Noa Girls continue to highlight the strength of youth development pathways.
Education-driven clubs, including Makerere University WFC, also illustrate the role of academia in advancing women’s football.
Traditional powerhouses such as Lady Doves and steadily rising Olila High School WFC add more excitement, while sides like She Corporate, Uganda Martyrs Lubaga, and Rines SS promise to maintain a strong competitive balance.
However, Asubo Ladies FC were denied a license to compete in the new season after failing to submit the required documentation by the extended deadline of August 21, 2025.
FUFA confirmed that the club retains the right to appeal, provided a formal petition is lodged before August 27, 2025. The FUFA Licensing Appeals body will then review the case and make a final determination.
This means Asubo Ladies will have to wait on the outcome of any appeal to know whether they will feature in Uganda’s premier women’s football competition this season.
The licensed clubs are now set for what FUFA projects to be one of the most exciting seasons in recent years, showcasing both the growth and professionalism of women’s football in Uganda.
