Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has warned the KCCA Executive Director, Dorothy Kisaka of the hurdles awaiting her in the new job. On Thursday, Kisaka was sworn in as the new Kampala Capital City Autohiry Executive Director at City Hall. Dorothy Kisaka has been appointed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the new executive director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).In a July 21 letter addressed to the minister of Public Service, Wilson Muruli Mukasa by the chairman of the Public Service Commission justice Ralph Ochan, Eng David Luyimbazi Ssali was also confirmed as the deputy executive director and Grace Akullo as the director of human resource and management at KCCA.  Kisaka, an advisor in the Office of the Prime Minister and administer of the COVID-19 fund, will now replace Eng Andrew Kitaka who has been holding the office in an acting capacity since 2018. UGANDA: KCCA appoints Nuwabine as the new spokesperson

Kampala Capital City Authority Daniel Muhumuza Nuwabine as the interim head of Public and Corporate Affairs at City Hall but will also double as their new spokesperson. The position fell vacant after Peter Kaujju announced his resignation last month after serving for for nine years having joined in April 2011. All city taxis will be assigned specific routes as they resume their operations on June 4, 2020, the Minister for Kampala Metropolitan Affairs, Ms Betty Amongi has said. The minister told journalists at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala on Thursday that they have designed routes for each taxi operating within the Kampala metropolitan area. This means that before the taxis return to the city, all operators will be expected to report to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Offices to be assigned parks and stages. Ms Amongi says that after registration and assignment of routes, the drivers will pick their route charts from the Ministry of Works. Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago on Monday unveiled members of his new executive that will run city affairs. Mr Lukwago appointed the executive members pursuant to the recently amended KCCA Act. Their names will be introduced to council before they start work. The appointment of the executive members comes barely a week after councillors elected Mr Abubaker Kawalya (Rubaga North male councillor) as KCCA council speaker and Mr Bruhan Byaruhanga (Kyambogo University male councillor) as deputy speaker. KCCA has 10 directorates each headed by a director and these have bodyguards and those guarding their homes, whereas several KCCA installations including health centres and division headquarters are also guarded by police officers. However, following last month’s directive, all the police guards have been withdrawn. “The intention to withdraw by the Inspector General of Police informed KCCA that the police guards were to be withdrawn by February 27, 2020 and that they should get private guards.
