ENTERTAINMENT: Minister Nabakooba vows to work on tough regulations on the Arts industry

ICT and National Guidance Minister Judith Nabakooba yesterday suspended the regulations earlier proposed by the government through the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) to ‘streamline’ the entertainment or arts industry. The laws required each artiste to submit their work to a select committee at UCC for approval before being consumed by the public. Police in Nigeria say they have dropped the investigation into a rape allegation made against popular Nigerian musician D’Banj. “[It] was discontinued as there was no substantial evidence to prove the allegation of rape against the suspect,” Police spokesperson, Umar Sanda, was quoted as saying by local media.
