Nairobi-Kenya. Tragedy struck at Kipchoge Stadium in Uasin Gishu County when 20-year-old athlete Joseph Hussein Njagi collapsed and died following a scholarship trial.
Njagi had just completed the 3,000-meter race around midday when he collapsed at the finish line.
According to a police report, athletics officials swiftly transported Njagi to Uasin Gishu District Hospital for urgent medical care, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Officers quickly arrived at the hospital to investigate the circumstances surrounding the athlete’s untimely death.
Subsequently, Njagi’s body was transferred to the morgue at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.

The sports community is mourning the loss of yet another talented individual, raising questions about the health and safety measures in place during competitive events.
As athletes push their limits in pursuit of excellence, the need for stringent medical oversight and support becomes increasingly evident.
The tragic passing of Joseph Hussein Njagi serves as a somber reminder of the risks athletes face and the urgent need for improvements in health protocols during competitions.
