Beloved Singer-Songwriter Sayuri Passes Away at 28, Husband Announces on Official X

Singer-songwriter Sayuri, who performed theme songs for many anime titles such as Ranpo Kitan: Game of LaplaceMy Hero Academia, and Lycoris Recoilpassed away on September 20, 2024, at the age of 28. The news was announced by her husband, Amaarashi, on her official X account on September 27.

Sayuri made her major debut in 2015 with the ending theme “Mikazuki” for the Noitamina anime Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace. Since then, she has performed theme songs for many anime series, including ERASEDScum’s WishFate/EXTRA Last EncoreGolden KamuyMy Hero AcademiaSing “Yesterday” for MeEDENS ZERO, and Lycoris Recoil.

In March 2024, she announced her marriage to Amaarashi, the male vocalist of the mixed-gender duo “Misekai.” Sayuri had been on hiatus since July 2024 due to being diagnosed with functional voice disorder, and the sad news of her passing was shared on September 27.

In a post on Sayuri’s official X account, Amaarashi stated, “To everyone who has always supported Sayuri, we would like to inform you that Sayuri passed away peacefully on September 20. She was 28 years old. The funeral was held privately with only family and close acquaintances, according to the wishes of her family. We sincerely thank you for your kindness towards Sayuri during her life and ask that you join us in praying for her peaceful rest.”

On his own X account, Amaarashi added, “Until the very end, she continued to think deeply about music while battling her chronic illness. I don’t have many words to express this, but this much is an undeniable fact. Please continue to receive and cherish the love that Sayuri created, and if you do, I hope you can carry it with you and live through it together.”
