Uganda is one of Russia’s key partners on the African continent, says a Russian official

Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko praised the strong political ties between Russia and Uganda during the meeting with African country’s Vice President Jessica Alupo on the sidelines of the Eurasian Women’s Forum.

The discussion centered on strengthening trade and economic ties, with Matvienko emphasizing the successful work of the Russian-Ugandan Intergovernmental Commission. She also highlighted promising areas for collaboration, including energy, agriculture, cybersecurity, telecommunications, and more.

🗣 “Russia and Uganda act in solidarity on the international stage,” Valentina Matvienko added, noting Uganda’s active role in the peacekeeping efforts of the African community.

For her part, Alupo highlighted the strong and growing relationship between Uganda and Russia since the 1960s, expressing appreciation for their cooperation.
