About five people died on Thursday evening in a tragic road accident involving three matatus in Gilgil, Nakuru County.
The accident occurred when a matatu en route to Gilgil from Naivasha lost control and rammed into two other oncoming vehicles.
Following the incident, a rescue operation was launched immediately, with the Kenya Red Cross confirming it had dispatched rescuers to the scene.
“A road traffic incident involving three matatus has been reported at the Gilgil Weighbridge in Nakuru County. Our response team is en route to the scene,” read part of a statement by the Kenya Red Cross.
Those injured were rushed to the Naivasha Sub County Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the Gilgil Sub County Hospital mortuary.
