Eng. James Kasigwa Nkamwesiga is the new executive director of the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).
He took over on May 13, according to a May 14 statement released by the standards agency. Before joining UNBS, Eng. Kasigwa was the director of Science, Technology, Innovation Regulation & Biosafety at the Ministry of Science Technology & Innovation.
An electrical engineer by profession, his illustrious career that spans over two decades saw him work with multinational corporations, private and public sectors while in leadership and strategic management of expert teams.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, and a Master’s of Science in Telecommunication from London South Bank University, London, United Kingdom.
He also has a Master’s in Business Administration from the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI).
Eng. James Kasigwa Nkamwesiga has also previously served as the commissioner of ICT Infrastructure Development at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance.
UNBS is a government agency responsible for developing, promoting, and enforcement of national standards to protect the health and safety of the public and the environment against harmful and sub-standard products as well as promoting fair trade practices and competition.
