For hissing amorously and asking for sex in a marketplace, Joseph Aleper was beaten unconscious by his object of attention – with the help of her friend
NAKAPIRIPIRIT | Joseph Aleper will come around, doctors treating him at Tokora Health Centre IV say, but he will certainly never forget the beating that left him unconscious, or the reason for.
For hissing amorously and asking Evaline Napakol for sex in a marketplace, Aleper was beaten unconscious by his object of attention with the help of her friend, Benna Akol, according to Police in Nakapiripirit.
Witnesses recall seeing the two women pounce on Aleper and extinguish near-lifetime of his sexual urge with a beating that left him battling life-threatening injuries.
Aleper appeared to be spurred on by the Scriptures. Seeing Ms Napakol, Matthew 7:7 flashed in his mind. And then to other body parts.
“Ask and you will be given, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you,” the good Book says.
But Aleper forgot one thing: the Bible is big and a woman’s fury vicious.
Aleper, 30, met his nightmares at Acherer trading centre in Moruita Subcounty along the Moroto-Nakapiripirit Road.
The two women accused Aleper of demanding sex from Ms Napakol in a disrespectful manner.
Witnesses say amorous overtures had resulted in the two women confronting Aleper. He reportedly tried to show his macho side but by the time he opened his eyes again, he was receiving third-party accounts of what had happened – from a hospital bed.
“The victim was left unconscious following the vicious assault,” Margaret Lomongin, a witness, recounted of Aleper’s harrowing ordeal.
A team of detectives from Nakapiripirit District has taken Missus Napakol and Akol into custody. The two women face charges of attempted murder.
“We told them to resolve conflicts through legal channels, and to refrain from taking the law into their hands,” Mike Longole, the Karamoja Police spokesperson, told Nile Post.
He warned against vigilantism and mob justice.
