Appearing to CBS Fm today morning, parliamentary commissioner and former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga has lashed at his own party and president regarding the ‘satanic’ Shs500m he was awarded by parliament as former leader of opposition for the past 2.5 years.

In the letter Bobi Wine shared few days ago which indicated that Mpuuga had admitted to getting such a huge share of the tax payer’s money. The letter also indicated that he apologized and was strongly advised to resign from his position as a parliamentary commissioner.

Malicious Corruption and Abuse of Office

Mpuuga who yesterday issued a strong worded statement lashing at his colleagues for failing to understand the issue and even punching holes in the way the party is run without accountability and transparence declined to resign and won’t be resigning any time soon.

Asked on CBS if he’s not worried his party president will write a letter recalling him as a commissioner and appoint some one else, Mpuuga made it clear that his party president has no powers to sack him as commissioner because he’s a commissioner of all opposition legislators not for his party alone.

Mpuuga said the rules of procedure are very clear and provide the process of how a parliamentary commissioner is removed. According to Mpuuga the party only has the powers to appoint but the powers to remove are vested in the parliament and the members of parliament.

When parliament was removing Zaake as commissioner of parliament on March 10 2022, he was booted through a motion and later a ballot by members of parliament when the MPs accused him of indiscipline.
