The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) wishes to inform the general public that His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. (Rtd). Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has held a productive meeting with His Excellency, William Samoei Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya, this afternoon at his Kisozi farm.
The two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest between Uganda and Kenya.
President William Ruto:
Kenya and Uganda are committed to the deepening of the long-established diplomatic and economic ties between our two countries. This relationship includes bringing all the seven East African Community nations closer in their ultimate goal to form the East African Political Federation.
Had the pleasure of meeting President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at his Kisozi country home in Uganda. We discussed critical issues that affect our two countries such as energy and petroleum.
Also discussed was the declared candidacy of Kenya’s former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for the Africa Union Commission chairmanship.

Several days ago, I accepted an invitation from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda for a joint meeting with President William Samoei Ruto today to discuss the deepening of regional integration within the East African Community. Crucially, at the urging of President Museveni, we also discussed my candidacy for Chairperson of the African Union Commission. I am very grateful to President Museveni for strongly endorsing my candidacy and to President Ruto for fully backing it. We took time out of our busy engagement to visit President Museveni’s wonderous cattle farm in Kisozi.
