FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers 2024
Second Round, Return Leg
Cameroon 1-3 Uganda
Uganda advances 4-2 on aggregate
Uganda U17 Women’s National Team put up a spirited performance to obliterate Cameroon on Friday and book a berth into the next stage of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.

The Teen Cranes secured a 3-1 win at Stade Militaire in Yaounde to eventually advance 4-2 on aggregate. It should be noted that the first leg ended in a one-all draw at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Right from onset, Uganda was dominant and made the better opportunities in terms of scoring.

Coach Sheryl Ulanda Botes made only two changes from the team that had started in the first leg with Joyce Kainza and Ritah Nambuusi starting ahead of Tamisi Shafiga and Promise Kwagalakwe respectively.

Kainza eventually got injured midway the first half and was replaced by Dorcus Kisakye.

Sylvia Kabene opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, capitalizing on a goalkeeping howler by the Cameroon goalkeeper.

Two minutes later, Esther Nangendo doubled the lead with his corner kick delivery going straight into the back of the net.

In the second half, the hosts stepped up efforts but Uganda remained resolute and defended resiliently.

Cameroon got their consolation goal in the second minute of added time but Agnes Nabukenya was able to put the game to bed with a well taken free kick in the last minute of added time.

The result means Uganda progresses to the third qualification round 4-2 on aggregate and will face the winner between Zambia or Tanzania.

Before full-time, Cameroon pulled back one before Agnes Nabukenya responded to recreate the two-goal lead.
