*MUKONO:* The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu and his wife, Mama Margaret, have today celebrated 40 years in marriage with a thanksgiving service at St Andrew’s Kitega Church of Uganda in Lugazi Parish, Mukono Diocese.
Rt Rev Enos Kito Kagodo, the Bishop of Mukono Diocese was the Main Celebrant assisted by Rt Rev Dr Hannington Mutebi, the Assistant Bishop of the Diocese of Kampala and Clergy. Rt Rev Jackson Matovu, the Retired Bishop of Central Buganda Diocese was the Preacher. Also present was Bishop Emeritus Paul Luzinda.
The Service began with the baptism of four Children including Archbishop Kaziimba’s grandchild, Mwebaze Eliana Kwagala of Dr. Joseph and Lenah Kwagala Kaziimba and ended with a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a magnificent Church as a souvenir project for their 40th wedding anniversary.
“This is where Margaret and I were wedded 40 years ago. We have been building Churches across the Province and most recently my home Church in Madudu. I had to come here and start this project because my journey to priesthood began here,” Archbishop Kaziimba said.
In his Sermon, Bishop Matovu commended Archbishop Kaziimba for being humble and focussed even during challenging times.
“I am one of those who recommended the now Archbishop Kaziimba to join priesthood and kept monitoring him up to the time he replaced me as Provost in Mukono, we later became Bishops and here is now an Archbishop. Amidst all this, he has remained humble and focussed,” Bishop Matovu said.
Dignitaries including Hon Dianah Mutasingwa Kagyenyi the Minister of State for the Office of the Vice President, Rotary District D9213 Governor, Rotarian Edward Kakembo; the Past District Governor, Rotarian Rosetti Nabbumba Nayenga; the Provincial Secretary Rev. Canon Capt. William Ongeng; West Ankole Diocesan Chancellor Mr Marvin Baryaruha; Provincial Mothers Union President Mrs Grace Murengyezi; City Businessman Dr. Ben Mugasha (BEMUGA) among others attended the function.
