The Japanese Embassy, through its Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) program, has extended a grant to the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) for the construction of a state-of-the-art learning facility at Nakivubo Blue Primary School.
The donation, presented on November 21, by the Japanese Ambassador to Uganda, His Excellence, Fukuzawa Hidemoto, is set to make a lasting impact on the school’s infrastructure.
The GGP program aims to provide financial assistance to non-profit, development-oriented organizations, supporting community development projects that directly benefit people at the grassroots level.
The grant is earmarked for the construction of additional classroom blocks at Nakivubo Blue Primary School, a move aligned with the shared vision of both nations to enhance educational facilities.
Distinguished guests, including Minister of Kampala and Metropolitan Affairs, Hajjati Minsa Kabanda, KCCA Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka, and Central Division Mayor Salim Uhuru, graced the ceremony, underscoring the collaborative efforts between Japan and Uganda in advancing education.
Ambassador Fukuzawa, speaking at the event, emphasized the importance of investing in education as a cornerstone for societal progress.
Minister Kabanda expressed gratitude on behalf of the Ugandan government, highlighting the significance of international partnerships in advancing education.
“We appreciate the continuous support from our friends in Japan. This donation is a clear demonstration of the strong bond between our nations and the shared commitment to the well-being of our children and the future leaders of Uganda.”
Kisaka, commended the collaborative efforts between the Japanese Embassy and local authorities, stating, “This donation is a shining example of what can be achieved through international cooperation. It goes beyond bricks and mortar; it represents an investment in the dreams and aspirations of the young minds that will benefit from these enhanced facilities.”
Mayor Uhuru echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that quality education is a collective responsibility, and partnerships like these play a crucial role in ensuring that children have access to the best possible learning environments.
