Ntare School Suspends Senior Six Candidates Weeks Before UACE Exams Over Vandalism

In a surprising turn of events, Ntare School, one of Uganda’s prestigious institutions, has suspended all senior six candidates just weeks before they were set to sit for their Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) final exams. The reason behind this unprecedented decision is Property damage.

The school, renowned for its academic excellence and discipline, took this drastic step following an incident of vandalism that occurred on the school premises. Several students were found to have been involved in the destruction of school property, leaving the administration with no choice but to take stern action.

According to school authorities, the incident took place last weekend when a group of senior six candidates allegedly engaged in reckless behavior, damaging classroom furniture, and defacing school buildings including newly installed CCTV cameras.

The suspension is likely to disrupt the upcoming national exams scheduled to begin on November 10, 2023. The school administrators did not provide details about the reasons behind the vandalism, and the students were reportedly hostile towards the media when visited by reporters.

The Rwizi region police spokesperson, Mr. Samson Kasasira, mentioned that the police were called in to restore order and escort the students off the school premises. Ntare School is a well-known and historically high-performing institution in western Uganda and has produced prominent figures, including Presidents Yoweri Museveni and Paul Kagame of Rwanda, along with other senior government officials.
