Jubilee Party Deputy Organising Secretary, Pauline Njoroge, who was arrested on Saturday evening, July 22, was found with four rolls of dry plant material suspected to be narcotic drugs.

The officers attached to Watamu Police Station escorted the trio to their place of stay at Mawe Zuri Resort and found a clear container containing ten (10) tablets suspected to be narcotic substances.

The suspects were taken into custody and charged with possession of Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and their vehicle was detained.

Speculations went rife that the digital strategist was arrested in connection with tweets that she had posted.

Prior to her arrest at 4:30 pm, Njoroge sent out a tweet condemning the brutal manner in which the government was handling residents in Nyanza – calling an end to the atrocity.

A few weeks earlier, Njoroge had alleged that the Kenya Kwanza administration gave her an offer to join the government which she declined.

The revelation came as a response to a former aide to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, Silas Jakakimba, who claimed that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta left a financial hole in the country.

“My brother, you are here claiming how the previous regime left a big financial hole that (President William) Ruto is trying to fix yet last week you and your very senior friends in the government were offering me Ksh500,000 per month to cross over? Where was that money going to come from if the country was in a financial hole?” She posed.

Njoroge has in the past used her social media platforms to criticise President Ruto’s regime. She has joined the list of Azimio members recently arrested by the police.

Others included Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino, Kilifi South MP Ken Chonga, Kilifi County speaker Teddy Mwambire, MCA Mabatini Wilfred Odallo, and Ngei Ward MCA Redson Onyango.
Other associates who were apprehended included Erick Otieno and Anthony Otsula (budget officers at Nairobi County Assembly), Maurice Ogeta (Raila’s bodyguard) and Dennis Onyango (Raila Odinga secretariat spokesperson).
Babu Owino, Raila’s spokesperson, Onyango and his bodyguard, Ogeta were released days later.
