Uganda’s Minister for Finance Matia Kasaijja to return the 300 iron sheets received under the Ministry of Karamoja Affairs to the office of the prime minister.

The Minister for Finance Matia Kasaijja has vowed to return the 300 iron sheets received under the Ministry of Karamoja Affairs to the office of the prime minister.

This was during the interaction btn Minister Kasaija and the Parliamentary Presidential committee chaired by Jessica Ababiku where MPs grilled Kasaijja to explain the circumstances he receives the iron sheets meant for the Karamoja people.

In reply Minister Kasaija said that at first, he received 450 iron sheets which he confirmed distributed to a school i-n his constituency after receiving a call from OPM that it was a donation to him.

Secondly, he also confirmed to the committee that later another batch of 300 iron sheets was delivered to his home in Kampala and they are still laying in his compound which he is willing to return to the OPM.

Kasaija also told the committee that he has never either requested or applied for any iron sheets from OPM or the Ministry of Karamoja Affairs and he regrets to have received items meant for Karamoja relief.
