NIGERIA: AU and ECOWAS election observers issue a preliminary statement on the Nigeria polls

ABUJA, NIGERIA, 27th February 2023 (OFPP) – The Head of the African Union Election Observers Mission (AUEOM), H.E (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta, alongside the head of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) mission, H.E (Rtd) Bai Koroma, has issued a preliminary statement on their observations of the Nigeria 2023, polls.

Speaking at a joint press conference, the two former heads of state said the preliminary statements reflect the missions’ findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders in the electoral process.

H.E Kenyatta urged Nigerians to remain patient and maintain peace while waiting for the election results declarations.

The Commonwealth election observers’ mission head H.E Thabo Mbeki, also issued the mission’s preliminary statement at the press conference.

Upon completion of the electoral process, the missions will issue a comprehensive report offering recommendations for improvement of future elections
