Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram.
As things stand, Thuram will become a free agent once the current season comes to an end, as his contract at the German club is set to expire.
Joining Monchengladbach during the 2019 summer transfer window, the 25-year-old has gone on to make 119 appearances for them in total, scoring 41 goals and delivering 26 assists along the way.
With his time at the Bundesliga club looking to come to an end in the near future, Thuram has found himself in the middle of a three-way tussle between some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
According to a recent report from La Repubblica (via Sport Witness), United, alongside Bayern Munich and Inter, are interested in securing a deal for the Frenchman during the current January window.
The report also adds that Erik ten Hag is a big admirer of the player, who would be interested in a move to the Premier League despite having an offer on the table from Inter.
This season has seen the World Cup finalist score 13 goals in 17 appearances for his current side, as well as having more shots at goal (56) and shots on target (30) than any other player in the Bundesliga.
Would you be happy to see United sign Marcus Thuram?
In addition to that, only Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry (2.27) has a higher rate of shots on target per 90 minutes in the league this season than Thuram (2).
Hailed as a “world-class” player by Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schafer, Thuram would be a smart signing for the Red Devils as only four clubs in the Premier League have a lower rate of goals per shot on target than them this season (0.25).
In our view, with Cristiano Ronaldo now out of the picture, his departure could pave the way for United to bring in a very capable and exciting attacking figure to Old Trafford that could help fire them into the top four.
