The Bishop of Rwenzori Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Kisembo Reuben has backed Parliament’s stand to halt Nyege Nyege Festival.
“Rt Hon Speaker, I want to add my voice to that of Parliament to condemn this festival; it’s sad that our young people are lured into such!
As leaders, we need to do something,”He said.
The Bishop made the observation during a meeting with the Speaker this afternoon (September 14th).
Contrary to Prime minister Nabbanja,Parliament and a section of religious leaders maintained their stand to halt the festival citing moral issues associated with the festival.
“Most times it’s not just about elections versus generation. The young people of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and we need to protect, promote and support them”, Speaker Among said.
She appreciated them for coming, saying that it’s a demonstration of the friendship and connection shared.
“Rwenzori region has always embraced me, and you have my heart”, she noted.
