Gen. Tumwine’s burial to cost Shs 600 million

Former Army commander, assistant to the departed General Elly Tumwiine and now the Transport Minister, General Edward Katumba Wamala has identified the late as a person who fought hard and loved his country during the 1980’s liberation war in Uganda.

The Late Tumwiine, born in April 1954 died of Lung Cancer on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from Nairobi at Aga Khan International Hospital where he was flown earlier this month.

Tumwiine served as Army Commander, State Minister of Defense, Director General External Service Organization, and Presidential advisor, Minister of security and historical member of High command.

Meanwhile, parliament has also paid tribute to the fallen Tumwiine through the communication by the Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa who also indicated that the burial program will be communicated by the organizing committee.https://kmaupdates.com/

Tentatively, the repatriation of General Tumwine’s remains from Nairobi, ceremonies to receive them, viewing of the body at Parliament and flying of the body to his home in Burunga in Kazo district, welfare, security and burial arrangements are estimated to cost the National Treasury about Sh600 Million according to Radio Sapientia
