“With MOH promise of HCIV for Bugangaizi East, undernutrition cases will be tackled”. Hon. Aisa Agaba Black

Kampala, Uganda: Bugangaizi East is worth a nutrition section to screen undernutrition cases in children under 5.

In an exclusive interview after attending a high level meeting on financing for Food Security, Nutrition and WASH organized by CSBAG yesterday at Golf Course Hotel, Kampala, Hon. Aisa Agaba Black, a member of parliament representing Bugangaizi East a constituency in Kakumiro District mentioned that the area needs a permanent provision of nutrition section and that is when HCIV promise by Ministry of Health promise comes to pass.

She said at her inception in the August House, wrote to Ministry of Health seeking for upgrading one of the HCIII in the constituency to the level of a HCIV in order to have other special services like Nutrition services be provided for which was welcome and they wrote back to her promising expedition of the request.

Aisa informed that lack of information from technical people regarding proper nutrition is what is starving the people of Bugangaizi East especially children under 5 years.

She said that this information is key majorly to others since they are at the forefront of child’s growth through feeding so being equipped with this saves infants from undernutrition.

“The section will help mothers to learn best ways of breastfeeding, eating rightly, balanced diet, sensitization and mindset change”. Aisa added.

She pleaded that members of parliament to rally each other to see important policies in line with nutrition are enforced.

She also sought that government increases funding for nutrition interventions, fight advertising unstandardized foodstuffs as well putting much efforts in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, (WASH).
