The Managing Director of K-ROMA Ltd Ms. Prudence Ukkonika Busingye during a one on one interview after KACITA cerebrations of 20 years of existence placed a need for the Association to task Uganda Revenue Authority do some tax reforms.

She says, the current taxes levied on them are unfavorable and at times leaves traders with scanty profit margins thereby limiting their progress.
She admits that, most businesses are recovering from the effects caused by Covid-19 but taxes remain unrevised which is destabilizing traders operations.
Ukkonika believes KACITA is a better Association for traders that has always come to their rescue in times of need and commends them for continued engagement with the Authority especially on Digital Stamp Tax

She commended the Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) saying it has played a big role in creating visibility of local products.
She adds that the initiative has encouraged local producers to increases production levels of their goods and services which is slowly beating up related imported products.

Asked about the effect of Covi-19 on her business as wine and juice producer, Prudence says, like any other business, it had an effect on our production and sales though not a grave one.

She says because of a wide range of importance of their products especially on health, Our Wines and Juices continued hitting the market even in hottest period of the pandemic.

“We have ensured production of high quality standard wines and juices and this has helped us continuously light the candle and embracement of our products in the market.” Prudence remarked.
I call upon all traders to ensure quality of their products if they are to remain relevant in the market.
K-ROMA Ltd was birthed in 2004 as local producer of very small scale wines “tonto” for the community but as the time went by, it grew to a regional company we see today.
