LUXEMBOURG, Luxembourg, 18 November 2021/ — The European Investment Bank (EIB.org) will hold an online press conference for the launch of the latest Finance in Africa report, the only detailed analysis of the impact of COVID-19 on financial intermediaries and backed by a survey of bank lending across the continent. The 2021 report is the sixth in the series and features expanded coverage of African financial sectors. It explores how banks, microfinance and private equity sectors have been affected by the COVID-19 crisis, how they have responded, and their ability to support the recovery.
WHAT:
The sixth Finance in Africa study provides timely analysis of the impact of the COVID pandemic on Africa’s financial sector and challenges facing private sector investment across the continent.
The new report highlights how Africa’s banks, microfinance institutions and private equity investment have adapted to new and unprecedented challenges and demonstrated considerable resilience. Based on analysis of 78 African financial institutions, the report also investigates how the African financial sector is responding to the digital revolution, how financial institutions are handling the challenges posed by climate change, and whether they are taking advantage of the opportunities offered by green finance.
