Uganda’s H.E VP Jessica Epel Alupo  represented H.E YKMuseveni ,the President  Of Uganda at an event to remember  the 40 days since the demise of Archbishop Jonah Lwanga special service in the Orthodox cathedral
Presided over  by His Beatitude the Pope and Partriach of Alexandria and all Africa Theodoros the 2nd. Present in the service included the Metropolitan of Nairobi and Kenya Archbishop Makarios, the Metropolitan of Burundi and Rwanda Archbishop Inocentios Byakatonda, Bishop Neofitos of Nyeri Kenya, Bishop Sylvestros Kisitu of Gulu and Eastern uganda, Archmandrite Haritonas from Congo and many other religious leaders. The service was also attended by Govt chief whip Thomas Tayebwa and MPs Hon Sekkikubo, Hon Abubakar Kawalya, Hon Hellen Nakkiwala, Hon Nyakikongoro, Mayor Rubaga division, Owekkitibwa Patrick Luwaga, Sebalangila Godfrey Musanje , Owekitibwa Augustine Mutumba and a dozens of faithfuls.

Archbishop Andreas Makarios Tilydrides from Kenya,was recently named the caretaker of the Orthodox Church in Uganda following the death of Metropolitan Yonna Lwanga.

Archbishop Makarios, was born in Cyprus and was a Cypriot bishop of the Greek Orthodox Church of Alexandria before his transfer to Kenya in 2001.
