The National Political Mobilizer for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party Ingrid Kamateneti Turinawe has said she will contest as an independent candidate for the Rukungiri Municipality MP seat.  The development follows fateful party primary elections on Tuesday where Ingrid lost to a one Warren Tumwine Nuwagaba, the outcome she vehemently disputes citing electoral malpractices.  Nuwagaba polled 130 votes against Turinawe’s 65 votes while the incumbent, Hon Roland Mugume Kaginda came third.  Ingrid Turiname protested the results citing voter bribery and  announced that she will be contesting as an independent candidate. Argumentative Veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda has taken to his Twitter account to brand the National Unity Platform (NUP)lairs for claiming that he picked the wrong nomination forms for the position of NUP president. Mwenda claims he was welcomed by youthful officials at the Kamwokya based headquarters who handed him the right forms for the presidency and not of the local council as alleged by the NUP spokesperson. According to EC records, Bobi picked forms yesterday through one of his handlers Paul Ssimbwa Kagombe. Meanwhile yesterday, NUP announced they had no flag bearer yet for the position of presidency. The NRM shall hold its national delegates conference at the regional leves, the party secretary-general Kasule Lumumba said on Sunday. While addressing the media at the party headquarters on, Lumumba said the intention is aimed at mitigating the spread of Covid19. The opinion poll released yesterday by the Research World International shows that the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and the Opposition are gaining but also losing support in some regions. The NRM support in Acholi, Lango and Teso sub-regions, which had previously been supporting the Opposition, is increasing. According to the poll, Mr Museveni has 65 per cent in Lango and 58 per cent in Acholi Sub-region which until 2006 strongly voted for the Opposition.In the previous elections, Mr Museveni won in Lango with 58 per cent but the polls show the support has increased by 7 per cent.
