Chelsea defender Alfie Gilchrist has joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan.
Alfie, who joined the Blues at 11 years old, started last season as captain of our Under-21s and made his senior debut after coming off the bench against Crystal Palace in December.
He went on to make 16 further first-team appearances and signed a new contract with the Blues in April. A first Chelsea goal soon followed as Alfie struck in a 6-0 victory over Everton.
A boyhood Blues fan, getting on the scoresheet at Stamford Bridge in front of the Shed End was a memorable moment for the young defender and his family.
We look forward to monitoring and supporting Alfie throughout his loan with the Blades – with the Championship season getting underway this weekend – and seeing his development.
