Kenya will remain a strong voice for Africa on the UN Security Council, President Kenyatta says

NAIROBI, 23rd February 2021 –President Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated Kenya's strong commitment to advancing Africa's agenda at UN Security Council especially on matters of climate change and security on the continent. President Uhuru Kenyatta during the Virtual UN Security Council open debate hosted by the United Kingdom on the nexus between climate and security. At the same time, the President rallied the Security Council to support more mitigation and adaptation measures in Africa saying effects of climate change are having adverse socioeconomic impacts on the continent. "As a start, we can recognize that persistent droughts, constant sea level rises, and increasingly frequent extreme weather patterns are reversing economic growth and development gains achieved over decades....

Uganda's  Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, recently  commissioned three rehabilitated community facilities in Kamuli district to improve the lives of the locals. In remarks at the commissioning of Buluya Health Centre II, Lwanyama Technical Institute and St. Andrews’s Primary School, Kiyunga on 16 November 2020, Kadaga applauded the Uganda Electricity Generation Company (UEGCL) for the gesture. With the development, women will no longer trek the 20 kilometres they did to access maternity services as the health centre now offers the much needed service, including separate wards for children, women and men. Legislators have paid tribute to fallen Kamuli Municipality MP, Late Hon. Rehema Watongola who passed on Saturday, 14 November 2020 at the Mulago National Referral Hospital. The late Watongola, her colleagues said during the special sitting on Thursday, 19 November 2020, was a polite and meek character dedicated to serving her people and was willing to work with colleagues from different political divides.
