According to Police, Kasumba was not arrested for anything related to his work and details on the charges to be preferred will be communicated in due course. In light of the extension of the lockdown, we felt it important to keep the public apprised of the continuing impact on the publication of scheduled releases, as well as what the organisation is doing to gauge the impact of COVID-19 on business. Seasoned journalist Charles Etukuri, who works with the New Vision, a government owned newspaper, is in deep trouble after court ruled that he defamed Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs Gen. Severino Kahinda Otafiire. In his Tuesday 14th April judgment, Justice Andrew K Bashaija agreed with the claims Otafiire raised in his suit No. 44 of 2019 in which he accused New Vision of defamation when it reported that he had used his clout as a Minister to become an owner of the land in the Njeru Stock Farm neighborhood. Ugandan photojournalist Tony Babara commonly known as Natty Dread is held up behind bars in Rwanda after being arrested by the authorities. He was arrested last month on Valentine’s Day (14th February) in the capital Kigali. Natty has been behind bars since February 14. He is said to have traveled to Kigali for a concert by Caribbean legendary Zouk band Kassav on Valentine’s Day. Kassav, is considered the most famous in the history of the Zouk music genre.
