Death Toll in Sunrise Hotel Fire Rises to 2
Kampala- Uganda. The death toll following a fire incident at Sunrise Hotel in Kampala has risen to two.
The incident occurred on Wednesday morning.
Rescue teams remain on the scene, working to access all rooms and confirm the extent of the damage.
However, Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) reports that “their efforts are being hindered by dense smoke, which is severely limiting visibility.”
Despite the challenges, KMP Spokesman Patrick Onyango says that “the team has managed to access a few rooms, and the operation is ongoing.”
Unfortunately, he added, “The death toll has risen to two.”
The first victim has been identified as Akot Akol Arop Chan, a national of South Sudan. The body has been transported to the City Mortuary at Mulago for autopsy.
The second victim has not yet been identified.
“The rescue mission is continuing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available,” said Onyango. CHIM REPORTS
