Elon Musk allegedly just welcomed his 13th child. He responded to the claim with just one word

The tech billionaire already had at least 12 children with three different women when conservative influencer Ashley St Clair shared a statement on X over the weekend claiming she had given birth to a child with the Tesla CEO.

Musk has yet to officially respond to her claims, but it wouldn’t be the first time the world found out he had welcomed a child in secret.

In 2022, word got out that he had fathered a set of twins with an executive at one of his companies just weeks before the birth of his second child with singer Grimes.

Musk responded by writing on X: “Doing my best to help the underpopulation crisis. A collapsing birth rate is the biggest danger civilisation faces by far.”

How many children does Elon Musk have?

According to recent reports, Musk has at least 13 children with four different women.

Musk’s first child was a son named Nevada, whom he had with ex-wife Justine Wilson.

Nevada was born in 2002 but died of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) at 10 weeks old.

In 2004, he and Wilson welcomed twins through in vitro fertilisation (IVF): Griffin and Vivian, who came out as transgender in 2022.

In 2006, they had triplets using IVF: Damian, Kai, and Saxon.

Musk also has three children with singer Grimes (real name Claire Boucher): a son named X Æ A-Xii born in 2020, a daughter named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk born in 2021, and a son named Techno “Tau” Mechanicus born in 2022.

At least one of their children – Exa – was born via surrogate.

The Tech billionaire also shares three children with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, two of whom were born just weeks before the birth of his second child with Grimes.

His first two children with Zilis, a pair of twins named Strider and Azure, were born via IVF in 2021.

They also had a child in 2024 via surrogacy but chose not to share more details.

In 2025, right-wing influencer and author Ashley St Clair claimed she had given birth to Musk’s 13th child.

Did Elon Musk have a 13th child in 2024?

On February 15, St Clair took to X (formerly Twitter) and claimed she had welcomed a child with Musk in late 2024.

“Five months ago, I welcomed a new baby into the world. Elon Musk is the father,” she wrote in a statement shared to X.

“I have not previously disclosed this to protect our child’s privacy and safety, but in recent days it has become clear that tabloid media intends to do so, regardless of the harm it will cause.”

She wrote that she wanted a “normal and safe” childhood for the baby and asked media to honour her child’s privacy.

Musk responded to St Clair’s claims with a single word more than 24 hours later: “Woah.”

His comment was in response to an X post from far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos claiming that St Clair “plotted” for years to have a child with Musk, based on Twitter posts allegedly made in 2020.

A representative for St Clair shared a statement to X alleging that St Clair had been working towards a parenting agreement with Musk for “some time”.

It read, in part: “We are waiting for Elon to publicly acknowledge his parental role with Ashley, to end unwarranted speculation, and Ashley trusts that Elon intends to finish their agreement quickly, in the best interests of the wellbeing and security of the child they share.”

Musk did not reply to St Clair of her representative.

He has not yet made any official statements about St Clair or her child.

How many of Elon Musk’s kids were conceived using IVF?

Of Musk’s 13 alleged children, at least nine were born using IVF, including at least two surrogacies.

Wilson gave birth to all five of her and Musk’s living children using IVF, Grimes welcomed at least one child using a surrogate, and Zilis had two children via IVF and one with a surrogate.

Who are the mothers of Elon Musk’s children?

Wilson is Musk’s first wife and mother to his five eldest living children.

They met while both studying at Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, married in 2000 and divorced in 2008.

Grimes is the mother of three of Musk’s younger children.

Zilis, a Canadian technology executive and venture capitalist, is the mother of three more of Musk’s children.

St Clair is an American right-wing influencer with more than 1.1 million followers on X and the author of children’s book Elephants Are Not Birds, which she described as an “unapologetic rebuke” of “transgender acceptance”.

In an interview with the New York Post, which was published after her X statement, St Clair claimed she and Musk first crossed paths on X in 2023.

It began with a few DMs, she alleged, then they met in person for the first time when she was flown out to interview Musk while she was working for the conservative satirical website Babylon Bee.

St Clair claimed they started a relationship soon after.

When she fell pregnant, she claims Musk told her to “keep it secret. I was being asked to keep it a secret forever”.

She alleged that Musk provided for her while she was pregnant but said she was kept “isolated” and was told to keep her child’s parentage a secret even after the baby was born.

St Clair said she decided to go public with the information when an unnamed tabloid outlet started asking questions.

She has received significant backlash since sharing the claims about Musk being the father of her child.

Musk has not officially responded to her claims.

As of this month, Musk is reported to be worth $US394 billion ($619 billion).

However, the world’s richest man has no plans to “automatically” hand over his fortune or companies like SpaceX and Tesla to his children one day.

“I am definitely not of the school of automatically giving my kids some share of the companies, even if they have no interest or inclination or ability to manage the company,” he once told the Wall Street Journal.

“I think that’s a mistake.”

Why does Elon Musk bring his son to work?

Though Musk has many children, his son X with Grimes has been in the spotlight lately after accompanying his father to several high-profile events in the US.

X was spotted with his father at rallies for President Donald Trump in 2024, then appeared in the Oval Office with Musk when he stepped up to lead Trump’s newly-formed Department of Government Efficiency.

The four-year-old was also photographed with two of his siblings at a meeting between Musk and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week.

Despite X’s mother Grimes previously stating that she prefers to keep her children with Musk out of the spotlight, Musk doesn’t seem to mind his kids tagging along when he’s doing business.

Kurt Braddock, an American University professor of public communication, recently told the BBC it may be “a political move to make him seem a bit more personable (and) take a human approach to how the public views him”.

Does Elon Musk have relationships with all of his children?

Musk appears to have varying levels of contact with his 10-plus children, with at least once publicly denouncing him.

Though he has shared custody of his five living children with ex-wife Wilson, their daughter Vivian has disowned Musk and even changed her surname from Musk to Wilson.

“I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form,” she said at the time.

Vivian has previously described her father as “cold, quick to anger” and “uncaring and narcissistic”, claiming that he denied her identity as a transgender woman.

Though Musk appears to have a strong bond with son X, he and Grimes have both sued each other for parental rights to X and their two other children.

“I just slept and cried every minute I wasn’t explicitly fighting for my kids during that year,” Grimes wrote on X in 2024, shortly before the custody case was closed. The result wasn’t made public.
