Canton man sentenced to life for shooting, killing rapper at Columbus strip club
COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Canton man was given a life sentence for fatally shooting a Columbus rapper two years ago.
Travis Ingram Jr., 23, pleaded guilty in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas to murder with a firearm specification, felonious assault with a firearm specification and two other counts of felonious assault, according to a release from the prosecutor’s office.
The incident occurred on Jan. 29, 2023, at The Doll House Columbus after Smith had performed.
Ingram reportedly fired shots from a Glock pistol equipped with a 50-round drum magazine at Smith, killing him. Three dancers, who were bystanders at the time of the shooting, also suffered injuries from the gunfire, the release says.
U.S. Marshalls arrested Ingram Jr. almost a month later in Stark County, where he’s originally from, said the prosecutor’s office.
In 2023, Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein filed a lawsuit to shut down The Doll House until the owners could properly address safety issues.
Although The Doll House was closed for about 10 months, their doors have since reopened while fulfilling strict security requirements per orders from the Franklin County Municipal Court.
