Champions League: Man City to face Real Madrid.
Pep Guardiola’s side will face 15-time winners AGAIN as the knockout playoffs draw is made
Manchester City will face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League’s knockout phase playoffs.
Pep Guardiola‘s side were paired with the holders and 15-time European Cup winners following today’s draw in Switzerland.
The clubs have met in five knockout ties in the past nine years, with Real Madrid coming out on top on every occasion except in the 2022/23 semi-finals, when Man City went on to win the Champions League for the first time and claim an historic treble.
City have to go through the playoffs to reach the last 16 due to finishing outside the top eight in the league phase. They beat Club Brugge on Wednesday to finish 22nd in the table and stay in the competition.
The first leg will be played on either Tuesday 11 February or Wednesday 12 February, with the second leg taking place a week later. It gives Man City a tough run of fixtures in February.
