McKenna on Hutchinson’s absence

“He picked up a groin injury after the Chelsea game. We’ve lost him and Conor Chaplin this week, which is a blow because both play in that right No 10 slot for us.

“We’ve freshened up the right side of the team with Ben Johnson coming in and Sammie Szmodics too.”

Fulham vs Ipswich match background

Good afternoon and welcome to live coverage of Fulham vs Ipswich Town from the Premier League as Kieran McKenna’s men look to escape the relegation zone by ending the hosts’ run of seven matches without defeat.

Ipswich earned their first home victory of the season with a 2-0 triumph over Chelsea on Monday and moved to within one point of Wolves in 17th and just two points adrift of Everton in the spot above. Three points this afternoon would therefore see the visitors climb out of the relegation zone and up to 16th, but having played a game more than the two teams in their sights.

McKenna’s side will once again be looking to Liam Delap for inspiration. The 21-year-old striker bagged his seventh league goal of the season as he opened the scoring against Enzo Maresca’s outfit at Portman Road before teeing up former Chelsea man Omari Hutchinson for the second.

It will take a lot for Ipswich to clinch their first back-to-back victories of the campaign though, as they face a Fulham side who are unbeaten in seven matches in the league in a run of games that has seen them face Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. However, with five of those ties ending all square, Marco Silva’s men find themselves in ninth heading into this one, seven points off the Champions League spots.

The final of the five draws came last weekend against Bournemouth at Craven Cottage as Fulham were pegged back twice by the visitors after they had taken the lead on two occasions through Raul Jimenez and Harry Wilson. The Mexican forward is now the leading scorer in the league for Silva’s men with six goals while Wilson’s header took him level with Alex Iwobi on five.

Victory this afternoon for the hosts would see them leapfrog Aston Villa into eighth, on goal difference, and go just one point behind Bournemouth and two shy of champions Manchester City.
