Abagimu Clan Qualify for Next Round as Kagadi Hosts BKK MTN Enganda Football & Bicycle Racing Events.
Kagadi District – The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom (BKK) MTN Enganda football tournament and bicycle racing competitions concluded an exciting calendar year of sports action in Kagadi on Friday, with both events showcasing fierce competition and thrilling moments.
In the football tournament, the Abagimu clan emerged victorious in their match against Abahemba, winning 1-0 to secure their spot in the next round. The game, held at Kagadi SS playground, drew a large crowd of supporters cheering for their respective clans. Despite the defeat, Abahemba’s effort was commendable, but Abagimu’s solitary goal was enough to see them through to the next stage of the competition.
This match marked the final football game of the 2024 BKK MTN Enganda calendar, with the tournament set to resume in January 2025 for the finals and the remaining two districts of Kakumiro and Kagadi. In the other notable development, the Abayaga clan failed to show up, leaving only two teams in action.
“We are happy that we have qualified for the next round and we appreciate MTN for the support,” said Julius Abigaba, the head coach of the Abagimu clan team.
The event’s opening saw Owek Moses Atuha, who represented the Chief Administrative Secretary of BKK, express his appreciation for MTN’s continued support of the games. He highlighted the importance of the tournament in fostering unity and peace within the kingdom and praised the exposure it gives to talented individuals. He also emphasized the need for discipline on and off the pitch, urging that the games be a platform for fun, friendship, and unity.
“We promise full support to MTN from the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, and we hope our long friendship continues to thrive,” Atuha added.
Meanwhile, the BKK MTN Bicycle Racing Competitions kicked off with great enthusiasm, drawing participants and spectators to the Kagadi SS playground. The event, which was flagged off by Atuha Moses, Owek. Sebugwawo Godfrey, Owek. Byamukama Francis, and MTN Uganda Territory Manager Mr. Nabeta Samuel, celebrated both the sport and the community’s efforts in development.
“The bicycle racing competitions and the upcoming Enganda football tournament are designed to bring the community together, promote development programs such as coffee planting, and inform the public about the kingdom’s initiatives,” said Atuha Moses.
As the race unfolded, competitors from the region displayed incredible skill and determination. The tournament promises to foster a sense of unity and excitement as it progresses to the next phase.
With both the football and bicycle races drawing large crowds and fostering a sense of community, the BKK MTN Enganda tournament continues to highlight the vital role sports play in bringing together the people of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom.
