Poland tests HOMAR-K rocket system
The Polish Armed Forces conducted their first live-fire missile tests with the HOMAR-K multiple rocket launcher system at the Central Air Force Training Range in Ustka.
The exercise, organized by the Directorate of Rocket Forces and Artillery of the Land Forces Inspectorate, was carried out by soldiers from the 1st Rocket Brigade, 3rd Rocket Battalion (18th Artillery Brigade).
The live-fire drills mark a new stage in Poland’s efforts to enhance its rocket artillery capabilities
The HOMAR-K system is a Polish adaptation of the South Korean K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher, mounted on a national Jelcz 882.57 8×8 chassis, and integrated with the Topaz fire control and communication system. It is designed to provide long-range precision fire support for Polish forces, enhancing the country’s defense against potential threats.
The live-fire test was an opportunity for the 1st Rocket Brigade to demonstrate its growing capabilities in handling advanced rocket artillery systems. The drills focused on combat readiness and the integration of new weapons technology into existing military strategies.
The HOMAR system is part of Poland’s larger push to modernize its military and align with NATO standards, reflecting the nation’s commitment to enhancing its deterrence and response capabilities. Poland has been steadily increasing its defense investments, particularly in advanced missile systems, amid heightened security concerns in the region.
