The Uganda Parliamentary Volleyball Team coaches, Bachu Raffi Mohammed and Waiswa Stephen, have unveiled the final squads for the 14th East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games, set to take place in Mombasa, Kenya, from December 6 to 17, 2024.

The teams, which have been undergoing rigorous training, will hold their final practice session on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Lugogo MTN Arena before departing for Mombasa the following day.

The Women’s Volleyball Team had an outstanding performance in the previous edition held in Kigali, Rwanda, emerging champions after winning all their matches and amassing 11 points.

Competing against Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Tanzania, the Ugandan women dominated the tournament, In contrast, the Men’s Volleyball Team faced challenges, finishing 4th after losing three matches to Rwanda (3-2), Kenya (3-1), and South Sudan (3-1).

However, they secured victories against EALA (3-0) and Tanzania (3-1), earning 7 points.

Both Raffi Mohammed and Waiswa Stephen expressed confidence in their teams’ readiness to perform better this year, “We have prepared thoroughly, leaving no stone unturned.

The women are determined to defend their trophy, while the men are focused on overcoming past obstacles and bringing home the title,” said Coach Raffi Mohammed.

Kenya has been Uganda’s toughest opponent in men’s volleyball, but Waiswa Stephen emphasized that the team is approaching every game with the mentality of a final.
“Despite Kenya’s home advantage, the men’s team is ready to compete fiercely. Our focus is on treating every match as a final and delivering top performances,” he added.

The EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games feature various sports disciplines, including football, netball, Basketball, volleyball, golf, tug of war, and athletics.
