Ruben Amorim told he’s already made his first mistake at Man Utd as former Old Trafford favorite explains what new boss will be missing after making huge decision on staff member’s future.
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has told new Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim that he has already made his first mistake at Old Trafford.
- Amorim takes over as Manchester United boss
- Will not have Van Nistelrooy in his coaching staff
- Louis Saha believes the Dutchman should have stayed
WHAT HAPPENED?
Manchester United appointed Amorim at the start of the month, following Erik ten Hag’s departure, with the Portuguese coach taking over from interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Dutchman has also left Old Trafford after Amorim decided not to have the former United striker on his coaching staff as he prefers to have his own staff working with him.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Van Nistelrooy, who only joined Manchester United in the summer, enjoyed an unbeaten run during his brief stint in charge. And former Red Devils striker Saha believes the Portuguese coach’s decision to let the Dutchman go is a mistake.
WHAT SAHA SAID
Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Premier League odds, Saha said: “Letting Ruud van Nistelrooy leave the club would be Ruben Amorim’s first mistake. Amorim would miss out on having that understanding of the club to hand as well as the information regarding what has changed in the last four games. That information is crucial to taking the club forward with the players now feeling comfortable again.
“It would be a big shame for Van Nistelrooy to leave and I do understand that the new manager is going to want to bring his own staff in, but having him there will help to get the best out of the players.”
WHAT NEXT FOR AMORIM?
The former Sporting boss will be hard at work at Carrington over the course of the next 12 days as gets to know his new players. Manchester United’s next match after the international break is against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on November 24.
