Liam Payne memorial in Wolverhampton relocated
Fans of the Wolverhampton-born singer have been leaving flowers, photos, balloons and candles around the statue of Lady Wulfruna, in front of St Peter’s Collegiate Church since his shock death last month.
But the memorial was moved early on Friday (November 8) morning to make way for the Festival of Remembrance around Cheapside and Lich Gates on Sunday.
People from across the globe were left devastated at the news, including in Wolverhampton and in Birmingham where vigils were held.
A petition set up by a fan in the wake of the star’s death calling for new legislation to safeguard the mental health of artists in the entertainment industry has been signed by more than 134,000 people.
It is believed the father-of-one’s body returned back to the UK this week, with his funeral expected to take place in his home-city in the coming days.
