Jason Kelce breaks silence after smashing fan’s phone over disgusting comment about brother Travis and Taylor Swift
Jason Kelce has broken his silence after being captured on video smashing the phone of a fan who made a disgusting remark about his brother, Travis Kelce.
Kelce, an Ohio native, was on his way to make an appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay show ahead of Penn State vs Ohio State in Pennsylvania.
The retired Philadelphia Eagles centre was walking through a crowd of people when one man called his brother a “f*****” for dating Taylor Swift.
Kelce turned around and grabbed the fan’s phone, slamming it to the ground. He then shouted “Who is the f****t now?” before walking away.
“Everybody has seen what happened,” Kelce said. “I’m not happy with anything that took place, not proud of it. A heated moment to greet hate with hate and I don’t think that’s a productive thing, I really don’t. I don’t think it’s the right way to go about things.
“In that moment I fell down to a level I shouldn’t have. The bottom line is I try to live my life by the golden rule, I’ve always been taught to treat people with common decency and I’m going to try and keep doing that moving forward. Even though I fell short this week.”
Kelce’s emotional comments on the controversial incident were issued at pitchside at Arrowhead Stadium ahead of Monday night’s game between his brother’s Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Chiefs – who are the reigning back-to-back Super Bowl champions – went on to win 30-24 in an overtime thriller, continuing their perfect start to the season with an eighth successive win.
The victory saw Travis Kelce – one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history – produce his best performance of the 2024 season so far, with 14 receptions for 100 yards.
Taylor Swift was in attendance on Monday night to watch boyfriend Travis Kelce produce his best performance of the 2024 NFL season so far.
Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-24 in an overtime thriller at their home arena, Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs, led by superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, are the reining back-to-back Super Bowl champions and are in pursuit of an unprecedented third successive title this season.
Their victory over the Buccaneers extended their unbeaten start to the campaign, with an NFL-best 8-0 record through the first nine weeks of the campaign.
On an individual level, 35-year-old Kelce – who is arguably the greatest tight end in NFL history – had been enduring a sub-par season. But the veteran pass-catcher produced a stellar display on Monday night, logging a career-high 14 receptions for 100 yards.
Also in attendance at Arrowhead was Tavia Hunt, the wife of the Chiefs’ billionaire co-owner Clark Hunt.
The Hunt family have grown close with Swift since the pop sensation began dating Kelce. Last year, the pair’s daughter Ava was pictured with Swift in New York. And for Swift’s 34th birthday, the Hunts gifted the singer a Judith Leiber microphone purse worth almost $5,000.
Posting to her instagram account ahead of Monday’s game, Tavia Hunt shared an image of a mysterious gift she was apparently to present to swift that evening.

The picture showed a red box decorated in Chiefs insignia, wrapped in a gold bow and addressed to Swift.
The post sparked speculation online among Swift fans over what the Hunts were giving the platinum-selling songwriter this time.
Ahead of the kick-off, Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce issued a statement in response to a viral video of him smashing the phone of a fan who’d made disgusting remarks about the Chiefs star and Swift over the weekend.
Speaking during an appearance as an analyst on ESPN’s Monday Night Football, the retired former Philadelphia Eagles centre said: “Everybody has seen what happened,” Kelce said. ‘I’m not happy with anything that took place, not proud of it.
On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs managed to defend their Super Bowl crown after beating the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Chiefs won the contest with seconds remaining on the clock having been behind for most of the match.
The American pop singer made it to the stadium to watch the match despite being on tour in Japan that week.
After the match, they were seen embracing each other in emotional scenes.
Now, footage of the pair’s moment has been released, revealing what Kelce said to Swift.
He said: “Thank you for coming, baby. Oh, I cannot believe that. Thank you, I can’t believe you.
“I can’t believe you. Thank you for the support.”
Kelce continued: “How did you do that? Thank you for coming. Thank you for making it halfway across the world. You’re the best, baby. Oh my God, the absolute best. Was it electric?”
Swift was heard replying: “It was unbelievable.”
Head coach Andy Reid added: “There was no doubting it. The guys were great. The defense played out of their mind, and the offense just kept persevering, pushing and pushing. It was beautiful.”
Speaking about Reid, Kelce said: “I put so much trust in him and how he goes about being a head coach, as a leader — he’s one of the best leaders in the game. I can’t thank him enough for giving me opportunities year in, year out. This third one, this second one back-to-back, this one’s for him, no doubt.”

Taylor Swift will likely miss the Super Bowl even if her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs qualify.
Swift has regularly been spotted donning a Chiefs jersey and cheering on Kelce from the sidelines in the run-up to the Super Bowl final.
The play-offs kicked off last weekend, and after Kelce’s side dispatched the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills, they are now just a game away from the Super Bowl, which is set to take place on February 11.
Should the Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, they will set up a heavyweight encounter with either the Detroit Lions or the San Francisco 49ers. However, should that happen it’s unlikely Swift will be in attendance.
That’s because the pop star’s The Era’s Tour is still in full swing.
In turn, though Swift will technically be free from her touring schedule on February 11, she’d have a hefty journey ahead of her to get from the stage in Tokyo to the Allegiant Stadium in Nevada for Super Bowl LVIII.
While Swift could feasibly make the 13-hour journey, she may gamble on the prospect of the Chiefs reaching another Super Bowl final in future.
They have previously made the Super Bowl five times in their 64-year history, with three of those occasions coming in the last four years.
Moreover, they have won the competition three times, in 1970, 2020 and 2023.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see whether the Chiefs will make it to the final, and if they do, whether Swift is willing to brave a trip across continents to be in attendance.

The Chiefs scored a late overtime touchdown in Las Vegas to edge past the 49ers 25-22 on Sunday night and secure their third Super Bowl win in five years.
The San Francisco side went into half-time with a 10-3 lead, but the Chiefs scored a last second field goal to take the game to overtime.
Mecole Hardman Jr entered the history books as the man who caught the winning touchdown pass to end the game, but nobody celebrated with more enthusiasm than Travis Kelce.
After half-time the 34-year-old made eight catches for 92 yards, including a few huge plays at key moments.
The legendary tight-end shared an emotional embrace with Swift ahead of the trophy presentation, and serenaded Chiefs fans with a rendition of Elvis Presley’s ‘Viva Las Vegas’.

When he and his teammates returned to the locker room, it became clear that there is some bad blood between the Chiefs and the 49ers.
An Instagram Livestream broadcast by Chiefs linebacker Darius Harris showed Kelce leading his teammates in a chant wishing their opponents goodbye.
In another stream, Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling had a message for his haters and critics.
“The first [Super Bowl] ring going on the pinky,” he said while holding a cigar.
