Jennifer Lopez breaks down while chiding Trump: Want Hollywood ending for Harris

Jennifer Lopez broke her silence on the ongoing row over comedian Tony Hinchcliffe calling Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage” during Donald Trump’s election rally in New York and urged voters in Nevada to give a “Hollywood ending” to Vice-President Kamala Harris.

Jennifer Lopez, who has been voicing her support in favour of the Democratic Presidential candidate, made her campaign trail debut at a rally in Las Vegas on Thursday night, calling it the “most important stage I’ve ever been on”.

The actress and singer delivered a passionate endorsement for Kamala Harris, rallying thousands of supporters with her heartfelt message.

Lopez opened her remarks by addressing the controversy surrounding comments made by Tony Hinchcliffe, who referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage”.

She said, “It wasn’t just Puerto Ricans who were offended that day, it was every Latino in this country. It was humanity and anyone of decent character.”

Identifying herself proudly, she exclaimed, “I am Puerto Rican,” before adding, “And yes, I was born here, and we are Americans.” Her quip, “You can’t even spell American without Rican,” elicited cheers from the crowd.

She shared her experiences in the entertainment industry, noting, “You know when I started in TV and film I could get roles playing the maid and the loud-mouth Latina. But I knew I had more to offer.”

“And I think a lot of people in this country feel the same way, who know that they are capable of more – and we all just want a chance to prove it.”

Lopez emphasised the importance of elections, stating, “Elections are about choosing leaders to support them-not one that stands in the way.”

She outlined some of the policies that Harris supports, including extending the child tax credit and a middle-class tax cut, adding, “It’s about helping you get ahead. It’s about you and you and you and you and you. It’s about us. All of us. No matter what we look like, who we love or who we worship or where we’re from.”

As the audience reacted to her criticisms of Trump, she continued, “Her opponent, on the other hand, doesn’t see it that way. He has consistently worked to divide us.”

Referring to Trump’s New York rally, she said, “At Madison Square Garden he reminded us who he is and how he really feels,” prompting a woman in the crowd to shout, “a jack-a**!”

“I’m a lover. You guys know that about me, I’m a lover. I am not a fighter. I am not here to trash anyone or bring them down,” she said, reinforcing her message of unity.

“I know what that can feel like. I wouldn’t do it to my worst enemy. Or even facing the biggest adversary I think America has ever had.”

The crowd cheered as Lopez chided Donald Trump and made an emotional appeal to voters to vote for Kamala Harris for the November 5 Presidential elections.

Lopez concluded her speech by proudly stating, “I am a mother, I am a sister, I am an actor and an entertainer. And I like Hollywood endings. And I like when the good guy, in this case, the good girl wins.”

She reaffirmed her commitment, saying, “With an understanding of our past and a faith in our future, I will be casting my ballot for Kamala Harris for President of the United States.”

While Tony Hinchcliffe’s remark became the talk of much tittle-tattle, US President Joe Biden apparently calling Trump’s supporters “garbage” grabbed headlines.

While Biden later clarified that he was referring to Tony Hinchcliffe, the gaffe was enough for Donald Trump to turn the tables. Doubling down on the US President for his remark, the former President’s recent garbage truck barb left the internet in splits.

Trump was seen answering questions while sitting inside the cabin of a garbage truck. “In honour of Kamala and Biden,” he said.
