Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has announced plans to remove all street vendors from Kampala’s streets in an effort to address congestion and impassable roads.

This decision was revealed by State Minister for Kampala, Joseph Kabuye Kyoffatogabye, in response to concerns raised by MPs on the parliamentary presidential affairs committee.

Minister Kabuye attributed the current state of affairs to the former KCCA Executive Director, Dorothy Kisaka, whom he accused of being unserious and lazy.

He claimed that Kisaka failed to implement previously agreed-upon actions to address the issue.

Minister Kabuye has assured that he will raise the concern with the new acting KCCA Executive Director, Frank Nyakana Rusa.

He vowed to remove all vendors from the streets, citing existing policies that prohibit illegal vending and require vendors to operate in designated markets.
