The Russian Defence Minister held talks with the head of government of Burkina Faso
Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov held talks with Prime Minister of Burkina Faso Appoliner Kielem de Tambela, according to the Russian ministry’s Telegram channel.
“We very much appreciate the friendly nature of our relations, the established forms of co-operation between us. Russian-Burkinian relations are based on the principles of mutual respect, consideration of each other’s interests and have gained positive dynamics in recent years,” Belousov said.
During the talks, the officials discussed topical areas of interaction between the two countries.
“I consider our today’s meeting as another step in the development of our friendly ties,” said Andrei Belousov.
The Prime Minister of Burkina Faso responded by noting that he was sincerely pleased with the relations being built between the countries. The Burkinabe delegation came to Russia on the occasion of the forum “Economic Days of Burkina Faso”.
Burkina Faso had earlier confirmed interest in joining BRICS. Ouagadougou will wait for the current members of the association to confirm their willingness to accept the Sahel country into the association.
