Blinken urges end to Iran, North Korea, and China support for Russia to promote peace in Ukraine

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that to advance peace in Ukraine, Iran, North Korea, and China must stop supporting Russia’s military, and Ukrainian peace initiatives should be backed, according to Ukrinform on Sept. 25.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken told the UN Security Council that to advance peace in Ukraine, Russia’s growing cooperation with North Korea and Iran must be addressed.

He noted Iran’s drone supplies and missile production for Russia, North Korea’s shipment of weapons and ammunition, and China’s provision of military-supporting microelectronics and tools.

Blinken criticized Beijing’s calls to halt arms supplies, stating the key difference is that Russia is the aggressor and Ukraine the victim.

He urged nations to stop backing Putin’s aggression and push for a just peace under the UN Charter.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan – they discussed bilateral relations and the peace formula, Zelenskyy reported on Telegram on Sept. 25.

Two leaders discussed ensuring freedom of navigation in the Black Sea as part of the implementation of the peace formula, in particular, and Türkiye’s key role in this aspect of the plan.

Zelenskyy also mentioned that they discussed increasing bilateral trade, investments, economic cooperation, and Turkish companies taking part in Ukraine’s reconstruction.

He also invited Erdogan to visit Ukraine.

Zelenskyy is now paying an official visit to the U.S.

On Sept. 25, he is scheduled to deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly in New York and meet with U.S. President Joe Biden, during which he will present Ukraine’s victory plan.
He is also set to meet with U.S. presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, though the meeting with the Republican candidate has not yet been scheduled.
