The Ukrainian incursion into Russia’s Kursk Oblast has successfully diverted approximately 40,000 enemy troops to the region from other sections of the front, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his Sept. 19 evening address.

“Operation in Kursk Oblast: around 40,000 Russian troops have already been drawn to this direction,” said Zelenskyy.

“Our active measures continue, and our [POW] exchange fund is growing.”

He added that Ukrainian forces had managed to reduce the intensity of Russian assaults in Donetsk Oblast, where the situation remains challenging for Kyiv.

“Heavy battles daily — Kurakhiv and Pokrovsk directions [in Donetsk Oblast],” the president stated.

“We are doing everything to ensure the resilience of our combat brigades.”
