ITPO Beijing accompanied the Beijing Xicheng Delegation to visit UNIDO HQ

At the invitation of UNIDO, a delegation from Xicheng District, Beijing, visited the UNIDO Headquarters in Vienna with the accompaniment of ITPO Beijing. They held discussions with ZOU Ciyong, Deputy to the Director General and the Managing Director of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development at UNIDO, among others.

LIU Dongwei, Deputy Secretary of the Xicheng District Committee and District Mayor, introduced the industrial advantages and business environment of Xicheng District. He noted the significant contributions of ITPO Beijing to investment and technology promotion in Xicheng and expressed hopes for continued deepening of cooperation with UNIDO. He also emphasized mutual participation and support for international activities, leveraging UNIDO’s global network and international platform to attract Austrian and European enterprises to invest and develop in Xicheng, as well as to help more Xicheng enterprises “Go Global”.

ZOU Ciyong thanked Xicheng District for its long-standing support of ITPO Beijing and introduced the “World Without Hunger Conference” to be held from November 5 to 7 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The conference is co-hosted by UNIDO, the African Union Commission, and the Ethiopian government, with technical support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Zou highlighted the importance of the conference for African development and expressed gratitude for Xicheng District’s attention and support.

With the upcoming Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in China, both sides believe that technological solutions provided by Chinese enterprises can contribute to African development. China’s rich experience in agricultural supply chains and deep processing will play a key role in addressing Africa’s hunger issue. ZOU reiterated the welcome for Xicheng enterprises to enter Austria, Vienna, and the UNIDO Headquarters.

Also attending the meeting were representatives from UNIDO’s Office of Communications, Conferences and Media Relations of the Office of the Director-General, Division of Agribusiness and Infrastructure Development of the Directorate of SDG Innovation and Economic Transformation, Division of Innovative Finance and International Financial Institutions, and Division of Fair Production, Sustainability Standards and Trade.
