Manchester United have under 72 hours to complete their transfer business this summer.
With deals for Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee already rubber-stamped, Manuel Ugarte looks set to become their fifth marquee signing. The 23-year-old is expected to complete a move from PSG, imminently, with United paying around £42.3million plus add-ons for his signature.
Elsewhere, proposed departures for Scott McTominay and Jadon Sancho are now taking shape, while United have even been linked with a push for Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling. The Manchester Evening News understands that exploratory discussions over a potential switch have been held and a would-be swap with Sancho mooted.
But that’s not the only whisper currently doing the rounds. Here, we look at the latest transfer news and headlines, while offering up our own take on developments that are surfacing from other publications;
United ‘finally agree’ Sancho to Juventus transfer deal
Reports from RMC Sport reckon United have ‘finally agreed’ a deal to sell Sancho this summer. The article suggests that Sancho will join Juventus, initially on loan, before finalising a permanent agreement next summer.
United have been ‘open’ to selling the 23-year-old this summer, despite Erik ten Hag re-integrating the winger into his squad following their bust-up last season. That comes amid ongoing interest from Chelsea.
MEN Sport says: “Jadon Sancho is not quite out the Old Trafford door, just yet, but a proposed departure should be finalised by the final bell on 11pm on Friday night. While there’s some merit in using Sancho as a bargaining chip to help them land Sterling – if Ineos consider him a genuine target – this could be a better move for all parties.
“Given what’s going on at Chelsea right now, Sancho might not be able to kick-start his career there, while United wouldn’t have to suffer the indignity of the ex-Borussia Dortmund man shining for a Premier League rival.”
Premier League side want £25m valued Ten Hag ‘target’
Nottingham Forest are primed to push forward with an ‘interest’ in Ajax striker Brian Brobbey – who was previously on the shopping list for United – after watching a swoop for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah collapse. That’s according to reports from The Mirror with a £25million price tag mooted.
