Transfer latest: Kieran Trippier seeking Newcastle exit before transfer deadline as Everton eye loan move for Saudi-linked England international

Kieran Trippier is reportedly looking to leave Newcastle United before the summer transfer deadline closes.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Trippier has been Newcastle United’s first-choice right-back since his move back to the Premier League from Atletico Madrid in January 2022. However, the England international is not in Eddie Howe’s plans for the upcoming season, with Tino Livramento likely to be the starter for the Magpies.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The Athletic report that Trippier is keen to exit the Magpies this summer and has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. However, the report has suggested that Everton are ready to sign the 33-year-old full-back on loan this summer with the transfer deadline fast approaching. The Toffees have already held initial talks about the move with Newcastle.

DID YOU KNOW?

Everton are looking to strengthen their full-back department this summer and Toffees’ boss Sean Dyche is said to be a fan of Trippier. The two worked together between 2012 and 2015 at Burnley before the full-back left the club for Tottenham Hotspur.

WHAT NEXT FOR TRIPPIER?

Trippier’s urge to leave Newcastle has come out very late in the summer transfer window and as such, all parties involved will have to work quickly to strike a deal with the deadline set for 11pm BST on August 30.
