AFC Bournemouth are delighted to announce the signing of Julián Araujo from FC Barcelona.
The 23-year-old makes the move to Vitality Stadium on a five-year deal and becomes the Cherries’ fifth signing this summer.
Chief Executive Neill Blake said of the transfer: “Julián is someone who we have tracked for a while now and we’re delighted to bring him to AFC Bournemouth.
“He’s a young player with high potential and we’re pleased to have beaten lots of competition for his signature.
“We believe that we have all the tools here for Julián to build on the quality he already has and we really look forward to welcoming him to Vitality Stadium.”
Araujo arrives having spent an impressive season in La Liga on loan with Las Palmas, where he played 25 times and helped the newly-promoted club stay in the Spanish top flight.
The full-back started his career in Major League Soccer with LA Galaxy where he featured in 108 games for the club before transferring to Barcelona in 2023.
He’s also a full Mexico international and was part of the national team that won the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup and finished in third place at the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League finals.
