Drones strike Russian air base in the Lipetsk region

On the night of August 9, a series of drone strikes targeted a Russian military airfield on the outskirts of Lipetsk, igniting a massive fire and triggering explosions at an ammunition depot on the base.

The incident was reported by the defense publication Militarniy.

The drone attack caused significant damage, leading to widespread fires and multiple explosions within the airfield. Local residents shared videos and photos on social media and Telegram channels, showing the scale of the destruction.

The Lipetsk region’s Emergency Situations Ministry confirmed the fire at the military airfield. Igor Artamonov, the regional governor, stated, “The massive drone attack resulted in the detonation of explosive objects far from civilian buildings.”

Residents in the vicinity reported that the ammunition depot was burning and detonating, with powerful explosions seen in video clips and images circulated online. The local authorities declared a state of emergency in the Lipetsk municipal district and initiated the evacuation of residents from nearby villages.

Russian sources also indicated that overnight, a widespread drone assault was carried out across multiple regions, including Belgorod, Oryol, Bryansk, and Voronezh, as well as in the Republic of Crimea.
